    Johnny Rodriguez shoots and kills Israel Borrego, an acquaintance he says he thought was an intruder in his home in Sabinal, Texas. Rodriguez is charged with murder and freed on a $250,000 bond

    Bonny Lee Bakley, the wife of "Baretta" star Robert Blake, is shot and killed at Vitello's in Los Angeles. She had claimed in 1993 that Jerry Lee Lewis fathered her child. Lewis denied the claim, though he reportedly had reached an out-of-court settlement
