    Fiddlin' John Carson, while employed by a railroad construction company, shoots himself in the leg. He goes on to become the first "hillbilly" artist to play on the radio 36 years later

    Louis Armstrong shoots off a pistol in a New Year's Eve celebration in New Orleans. The incident gets him shipped to reform school, where he studies music and joins the school band. He's destined to record with Jimmie Rodgers on "Blue Yodel No. 9"

    Fiddler Lowe Stokes is shot near Cartersville, Georgia. His right hand is so badly damaged that it is subsequently amputated. Stokes played on Gid Tanner & The Skiller Lickers' recording of "Soldier's Joy"

    With World War II coming to a perceptible end, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler commits suicide in Berlin with a shot to the head. Three years earlier, he was recognized in the title of Carson Robison's topical country hit "Mussolini's Letter To Hitler"

    Hank Williams is forced to cancel concerts in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore after back surgery. Audrey Williams still performs at the shows, but as she leaves the house with her things, Hank fires four gun shots at her
