He works with Spade Cooley and Hank Penny, records a series of instrumentals with Jimmy Bryant, and produces Loretta Lynn's first single, "Honky Tonk Girl"Jun 13, 1946Steel guitarist Speedy West leaves Springfield, Missouri, with his wife and son in a Lincoln Zephyr to re-establish himself in Los Angeles. He subsequently works with such acts as Loretta Lynn, Tennessee Ernie Ford and Johnny BondJun 16, 1946Three days after leaving Missouri, Speedy West arrives in Los Angeles with his wife and child. In short order, he appears as a steel guitarist on recordings with such acts as Tennessee Ernie Ford, Skeets McDonald, Johnny Bond and Loretta LynnFeb 8, 1948Speedy West receives a three-neck steel guitar from Downey, California, manufacturer Paul Bigsby.
